9/5/2025Return was e-filed and accepted by the IRS same day with a balance due of $16,786; a payment voucher was issued to the taxpayers. The return was prepared with a Form SSA-1099 reflecting a lump-sum Social Security payment, which was split across the applicable tax years in the tax preparation system per standard lump-sum election treatment. The IRS now appears to be recalculating the reported Social Security benefit amount. This matter was submitted to Tax Protection Plus (Case #00074076) for resolution.

7/17/2026Forms 2848 and 8821 were signed and uploaded. A request was received from Tax Protection Plus for a copy of the Form SSA-1099. A phone message was left for Jeff regarding this request, and a follow-up email was sent letting him know the form is included in his 2024 tax packet. The Form SSA-1099 was subsequently received from the client and uploaded to Tax Protection Plus.

8/11/2026An extension request was submitted to the IRS by Tax Protection Plus.

8/12/2026A conversaion was held with Julie on the case status. She made a request to expedite this case because 2848/8821 have not been submitted as of yet. A request to receive the extension request was made. Our office had a phone call with Jeffery to update him on case status.

8/26/2026Email was received from Julie. Nothiing is needed and the team is actively working on the resolution. They apologize for any delay.
